Well, it's been a while since I've posted on here, so I'll update anyone who reads here about my current situation. I was attending the University of Maryland in College Park, studying computer science. I started there in Fall of 2006, and that's part of the reason I haven't been posting as much. At some point during my first year I came to the conclusion that computer science wasn't my thing, since the math is way beyond me (there's no way I could go up to calculus II). So, I changed my major to criminology, my second greatest interest besides computers. I was given "one more chance" to attend UMD and get decent grades, or else my parents wouldn't be paying for it. So what do I do? I screw off and get three F's my third semester... Yeah, that takes some effort; failing three classes. Basically, you smoke/drink enough to stop caring, and don't go to any of your classes unless there're exams that day. At any rate, my strategy didn't quite work out, so I'm stuck going to community college this next semester while managing at Domino's pizza (a job I've held for about 6 years now). I was ok with this. I figured it'd be a chance to turn things around, clean up my act and jump-start my study skills. And queue life's next setback: Last Friday I was out driving around at three in the morning with a few friends, just cruising backroads, listening to some tunes. I turn a corner, and there's a deer right in front of me. I slam on the brakes, turn the wheel to avoid it, overcorrect, and slide right into a tree on the opposite side of the road going about 25-30 mph (don't tell me I should have hit the deer, at least 50 people have already said it). Nobody in the car was hurt, the airbags didn't pop, but the frame is bent, which means it's not worth fixing the car. I still don't know what I'm going to do with it. It's a '99 civic, has an Apex-i catback exhaust, and starts up strong just like it did before the accident, so I'm thinking about possibly finding a civic with a blown engine and swapping it out. If anyone around Maryland knows someone who wants the engine or exhaust, let me know. The k&n cold air intake is still good too, and for sale. But yeah, that's what's up with me. Life seems to be *BLAM*ting on me, but I guess it can only get better... *quickly knocks on wood, rubs lucky penny, and curls into fetal position* Here are the pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() On another note, I'm now an executive member here... so watch your ass! J/k, I'll try and post more, maybe see if I can't recruit a few newbs and whatnot. |

Good thing you were going slowish or that tree wouldve killed ya. Sorry computer science didnt work out for ya, it always seemed like something you loved. Mabey if you werent stoned all the time you could have figured it out easier? Have you been promoted at Dominos yet? Youve been working there ever since Ive known you and then some. Sorry about your car, it looks pretty screwed (at least you saved the deer). Not sure about your economic situation, but not having a car may hamper your ability to deliver pizzas. On a brighter note, you dont really need college to learn computer science. If you read enough and put enough effort into it, you'll learn it on your own. It's hard, but hey, looks like its your only option. Im trying to learn C#, but with baseball and homework Im lucky if I get to sleep every once in a while. Hope everything turns around for you. |

Well, the stonedness isn't a factor with teh computer science, or anything anymore (I quit) it's just a lack of math skills, and really a change of intrests. But as for my economic situation; that's getting kinda bad. I don't deliver pizzas, I run the inside, but that car was my savings from the 6 years of working basically. I've got enough to buy books next semester, not much else. So I guess it's a good thing I'm living cheap at home :D. I'm gonna have to manage my finances very closely, basically mooch for a while and save every dime I earn. PS, I just realized there is a picture of Donald Trump on all of my posts, and I'd like to apologize to everyone for that...

Sounds bad. Hope it turns out okay. Also glad to hear that you gave up drugs, or whatever it is that you did. 'Tis a very bad thing to do.

I won't even say drugs are all bad, but you've got to set limits and moderate yourself, and most people can't do that and have to learn the hard way (like I did) that college and pot smokage don't go hand in hand. Some people are successful stoners, and if it works for them, more power to 'em. Not me tho, not at all. Since I've quit I've noticed a nice clear head tends to make all things easier to deal with. I'm fairly depressed right now, but I'm managing to deal with it where before, I'd probably be getting stoned and just setting the issues aside and forgetting for a brief moment. The car thing isn't even bothering me now.... Now it's job secuirty. I've been looking at the numbers at work, and I don't think this Domino's is gonna be able to remain in operation for long if the numbers don't start going up. Anyone else in the food-service industry want to talk numbers in PM? I'm actually worried about this place going under, and the fact that there's a Pizza Hut opening soon seems like the last nail in the coffin for Domino's. Sorry for coming on here to a dead board to dump my life problems on the table for everyone to see, but I guess it sort of makes me feel better. |

Sorry, but no... In any case, good luck with the new major and sorry about your car. Your life, however, is not that bad compared to many others. You failed some classes because you didn't try and you hit a deer. If I were you, I'd still come up with things to be thankful for, because you are much more fortunate that many. EDIT: Blah. Sorry for my abrasiveness! I and my father have almost died in the past week due to intense medical conditions, neither of which were related. His was heart and mine was brain. So... yeah. My lack of compassion is not because I don't like you, it's because I see someone complaining who has much less to complain about than I do. |

in my opinion, you dont seem like the druggy type, FInal, but meh. Apaarently the stuff they have been drilling into our heads about drugs since I was in school really do help me. Ive never been interested in drugs and dont plan on it either. But you cant do Calculus II? Come on now, you're smarter then that Final. You should give it another try with a clear mind. I bet you can pull it off. You should try and acheive what you think will make you most happy in life, even if it takes a little more effort. As for the working goes, I cant help you with that. During the summer I work at the Baseball fields and make money by umpiring. In the winter I make $15/hour keeping score at the basketball games. Ive made about 400 bucks this season. I plan on buying a shotgun for my trap shooting team and a WWII rifle soon. (if anyone knows anything about ahotguns or rifles, PM me. I need to find a cheap trap shotgun) |

@jana, sorry to hear about your near death experience... Hope you're doing well now, as well as your father. I know I'm fortunate, it's just aggravating to think that all of this could have been avoided. Hell, if I'd done better at UMD, I wouldn't even need the car as I'd be living on campus. Not to mention the fact that I only put 5,000 miles on the car since I bought it (I was hoping it'd be more like 150,000). But you're absolutely right, and I am thankful that nobody was hurt. My brother was in an accident last Thursday as well, and he totaled his truck without any major injuries either, so luck is on our side really (in a twisted way that involves us no longer having vehicles). About the drug comment, you never know what's going to be right for another person. I personally believe that "stoner culture" is a myth, and in order to believe in it, you have to delude yourself, but there are many who disagree, and I won't be the one to tell them their lifestyle is wrong (even though I've made that personal realization). People should be able to live as they please really, and hopefully they'll make the right choices. Don't think I'm pro-legalization or anything like that, I think pot and other psychedelics should be illegal and hard to obtain, but I also think some people can use them without negative impacts and if that's their desire, so be it... I'll still tell any kids out there that if someone offers you a smoke, tell them no and just say *BLAM* it because it's a waste of time and money. @Storm, math just isn't what I'm good at. I've struggled with it for as long as I can remember. Beyond arithmetics it all becomes a game of memorization for me which is pointless. I'd rather understand then have to memorize rules, and I simply don't understand the rules of trigonometry. Not to mention I've lost interest in coding... don't ask me why, it just seems boring to me now. I'd rather start off in a field with more action and less time in front of a desk. Thanks for the comments, I'm starting to deal with this whole situation (not that it's so horrible, but that it's a huge disappointment for me). I'm just going to have to keep my grades up and get back on track while earning money. Good thing my parents aren't assholes and still let me live with 'em

Ive always been good at math, so I guess Im a little biased
. I plan on going to college to become a doctor, but I plan on coding as a hobby as I really like it. I just have a gut feeling that staring at a computer all day everyday wont be good for my eyes
My friend's dad is a doctor and he has 4 cars and 3 houses, so it cant be that bad. XD I hope you have better luck in criminology. Mabey you can be like the guys on TV and own some noobs that think they can kill people. PS: POST MORE, FINAL, BEFORE I MURDER YOU! |

A doctor, Stormy? Have fun being in college for 8 years, lol. Anyways, how bad drugs are really depend on the person.... ones of my brothers friends is probly one of the biggest hippies and potheads in America, but hes also one of the nicest guys I've ever met, and a straight A student too. But then of course theres the people who let it take over there life, too... |

Doctors make good money, but unless your parents are rich as hell you're gonna be paying for your schooling for quite a while after you start working. It's a high paying profession though, so if that's what you want to do, go for it. As for my criminology career, I'd rather not be a cop (don't really care for them). I'd like to get into some sort of federal law enforcement, or maybe private security. I've thought about getting into corrections too, since they're the ones who actually have the biggest impact on the people in the criminal justice system. |

I've thought of that. My dad works at the White House already (in the masonry shop) so I would get to stay close to my family. |
