Just wondering what OS everybody uses. Windows is obviously the most popular but right now I'm actually on a Mac (I'm at school). Post your OS preference here to if you like. |

Meh, I use Windows XP. It's alright, at least it's batter than a MAC :P. Yeah, that MAC parody from video.google.com that was posted here a little while ago is stll ringing through my head. |

I use mainly windows vista, for internet and stuff, XP for gaming and stuff. and Unix once in a while for miscellaneous stuff. |

I use XP now, but I think I'm gonna make the switch to linux before long. I spent so much money on my computer to make it good for gaming, and I never play any games on it. Since games were my only reason for not switching to linux sooner, I guess I'll have to do it now

Linux is free, and open source. Free is good because... well duhh. Open source is good because the code is out there for anyone to see, and corrections get made much quicker and more efficiently. Also, Linux shares the same advantage of Macintosh in that it's not a big target for the hackers since few people use it. |

Nope, vista isn't out yet to the general public. Only beta versions, for beta testers. Like shmiters :lol:. And anyone who want's to d/l a pirated version :rolleyes: by the way, '98 sucks, you should get 2000 at least. |

I got a Window's 98 in my room. And some of us aren't fortunate enough to get a Window's XP, none the less dream about one. I'm too worried about driving all over hell and back in Texas to find a damn truck.

I use XP at home. Most of our school computers have XP as well, but the art and design computers are all Macs. |

No, I don't have a MAC, I doubt I ever will, I was just pointing out that you can now download Windows XP for a MAC. But still, Macintosh sucks. At my elemetry school they had MACs for the kids and Windows for the teachers :P. But at my current school we have some crappy version of Windows. |

Yes. If Microsoft wanted they could sue, if they were determined enough they could find a reason. I'm not a fanboy, I'll use anything other then a Mac OS. Windows, Linux, it doesn't matter. |

I've been using Macintosh computers since 1998 fools! Quite frankly, if you're not going to use your computer for modding, programming, or gaming (I have an xbox for the latter) then Macs are more reliable, easier to use, and less prone to viruses. HOWEVER, ever since the iPod came out Apple had made some utterly DENSE decisions with their company that has really reduced them in my eyes (to say nothing of the attack ads against PC that only made the internet hate mac users more), but I still chuckle quietly to myself when I hear my friends complaining about Vista or the last time their computer crashed. |

I'm using Windows Vista on my current build. I haven't had any problems with the OS itself, only compatibility problems with old stuff made ages ago (like Starcraft), and it runs great. |

I'm running Vista right now. I got a new laptop this past Christmas and it came preloaded with Vista. I mainly just use it for screwing around on the internet and for school related stuff and it's been working great. The new version of Microsoft Office is really cool too. Not much of a computer gamer so I wouldn't know how well Vista works in that sense I've always been curious to know how a Mac actually stacks up against, say, Windows Vista. I have friends that swear by their Macs but I don't know enough about them |

Ironman, I've avoided Vista since it came out. I can't stand it. lol. In my opinion, Vista is a cheap imitation of Mac. All their "new" ideas were inspired by the Mac OS, but just not quite up to par with how Mac did it. Vista tries to mimic Mac OS X with features like search (Mac's Spotlight) and Sidebar (Mac's Dashboard). Even Aero Glass is a feeble attempt to outdo OS X's GUI interface. Eh. I am biased, I'll admit. However, I don't like cheap imitations of a better product. Lots will disagree, so before we start an OS battle, know that I own a PC and love my PC... just not Vista.

Not a fan of Windows or Mac, I use Ubuntu Linux for most things, though I use Windows XP for gaming. |
