I suppose it depends on your financial situation. I would buy the Elite and maybe try to make some money off of the broken console (unlikely). The problem is, I'm sure a new console will be out in 2-3 years, but that's a long ways off. All of the new boxes have the new hardware, it's just that the Elites have HDMI and a freaking huge hard drive. You should also consider just buying an arcade version and putting your hard drive in there. It just depends on how much space you need. But yea, I wouldn't pay $100 to get that bugger fixed.
